Lake Tahoe Engagement
This Lake Tahoe engagement was a special trip for me. Sharyne and Chris have been through a lot the past few months. They had to move up their wedding day and change venues due to a family illness. That meant their Lake Tahoe engagement was actually after their wedding. Lake Tahoe is a special place for this couple. Chris’ grandfather built a cabin here in the early 70s and his family has been coming every year since. We wanted to stay pretty close by the cabin and photograph at spots that held memories for them.
Sand Harbor
On the first day we stopped at Sand Harbor. Sand Harbor is a stunning area on the eastern Nevada side of Lake Tahoe. It has crystal-clear water and amazing rock formations. We did our best not to fall into the water. Despite it being in the 70s, the water was pretty cold. After all, it’s an alpine lake. The sunset over the lake was beautiful and a great way to end the day.
Emerald Bay
The next day we headed to Emerald Bay. This is a stunning area on the South West California side of the Lake Tahoe. The overlook area lies between the alpine forest mountains and the bay below. The bay features the iconic blue Tahoe water. Fannette Island sits in the middle of Emerald Bay. It’s one of America’s most inspiring views. Sharyne and Chris climbed boulders and hiked to various spots. Anything to get the best views!
Family Dock
Once the sun got lower, we went back to the families cabin. We took the short stroll down the water and the dock. Chris’ family helped build parts of the neighborhood dock that’s on a small beach. The more the sun dipped behind the mountains, the bluer the teal water became. The soft light and bobbing boats makes the atmosphere dreamy. The moon took the suns place. It hung over the southern tip of the lake and the casinos on the Nevada side. Lake Tahoe is Magic!
