Yosemite Wedding and Day After Session | Destination Wedding Photographer
Traditional to Yosemite Wedding
When I first met Jody Rae and Tony, they were all set on a traditional wedding in Texas. The venue, date, and everything was set. I then received an email from Jody Rae asking if I thought they were crazy for thinking about scrapping it all. What about going on an adventure instead? Somewhere they had never been before; of course, I was into it. I sent them a few Pinterest boards of places I thought would be a good fit. A Yosemite wedding ended up being the winner.
The Wedding Day
What started as a plan for an elopement quickly turned into a destination wedding. Turns out, friends and family didn’t want to miss all the fun. So the pair decided to have a small DIY ceremony in the woods. Even in a rustic setting, they brought upscale Dallas vibes with their wardrobe. Everything else was very thoughtful and simple. The bridal party helped make the bouquets out of greenery only. The bride and groom got ready at separate cabins. After getting ready, Jody Rae had a first look with her family and headed to the ceremony area. The spot was next to a beautiful little stream close to the cabins.
The intimate ceremony was very personal. The guests were encourage to gather around and feel a part of things. Tony and Jody Rae made sure his daughter had a special part of the ceremony as well. They didn’t forget to include their Texas roots either. They brought soil all the way from the Lone Star State to stand on while exchanging vows. Afterward, we stuck around to explore the nearby stream and forest.
Day After Session at Taft Point
The next day we headed to Taft Point for a day after wedding session. Taft Point overlooks Yosemite Valley with unobstructed views of El Capitan. The overlook lies at the end of a mile long hike through beautiful rocky forests and clearings. There were stunning views everywhere. We stopped for dance breaks to warm up and take it all in. Finally, we watched the most amazing sunset over the valley. The color of the granite changed the lower the sun got. It was a magical end to a perfect Yosemite wedding weekend.

I don’t know if there is any adventure photographer who doesn’t dream about shooting at least one wedding in life in Yosemite Park. The one you captured is not only shot in the amazing place but it is captured by amazingly talented artist! Some people say that in locations like this photos comes easily but nothin’g more wrong. The colors, the use of light, your edition makes it unique and timeless.
