Emerson Venue Wedding | Dallas Wedding Photographer Jeff Brummett
I loved getting the chance to photograph Heather and Eric’s Emerson Venue wedding day! Heather had such a clear vision of what she wanted her wedding to be. It was so much fun hearing about her plans and then seeing it all come to life! There was amazing, colorful design elements everywhere. At the heart of it all was Heather and Eric’s love for each other and those closest to them. Heather was kind enough to write about their story, her wedding vision, and more:
Heather and Eric’s Love Story
Eric and I grew up in Roswell, New Mexico about two blocks away from each other. We actually met when I was 15 years old and hostess at Tia Juanas Restaurant. He was a cook and loved to flirt. We have a deep love for Old school American muscle cars. Of course he was a hard guy to resist, driving around in his 68’Camaro. Although we never dated in high school, fate stepped in one night when I was home from college.
I came back home for from college one weekend and ran into Eric at the bar. We hung out for hours, but I had to drive back for a test that night. He tried to get me to stay but I had to go. We couldn’t stop talking from the point on and about two weeks later he surprised me by driving down to my campus to see me. Problem was, he drove a motorcycle and there was a terrible storm on his way down. There was freezing rain and high winds. But he showed up outside my class looking extra good in his leather jacket and I knew then he was the one!
Fast forward to 2015, we had been living together for some time and are parents to two rambunctious dogs, Django and Abby. We were in the mist of moving to Dallas to explore all this great city has to offer and we have not looked back since. This February will be our 8 year anniversary. I couldn’t imagine my life without him and I thank god every day for bringing him to me.
First Look
This was so much fun and Jeff got some incredible pictures of us at The Adolphus Hotel. It was also so nice to get a special moment like that on camera. It helps calm the nerves of the day and let us enjoy everything a little bit more!
The Emerson Venue Wedding
We looked for months to find the right place. I have seen literally every wedding venue in Dallas at this point but nothing felt quite right. I found myself compromising things or having to work around rules to get what I had my heart set on. We were down to the wire and needed to pick something ASAP.
My good friend and HMU artist Erika Ferrell has mentioned a brand new venue called The Emerson Venue. Although there weren’t many picture available of it at the time, I had a gut feeling I needed to see it. My gut was right, I fell in love at first sight and finally found the venue that gave us everything we dreamed of! The modern design, timeless chapel, and the string lights above the patio sealed it for me. The black room was also a major feature I was very excited to play with.
Wedding Day Inspiration
I was going for a moody, modern feel. The black and white color scheme of the Emerson Venue was the perfect back drop to do so! My florist Katie knocked it out of the park with her incredible deep reds, purples and pops of orange! I feel like we landed with a modern glam kind of look which was amazing!
First Look With Dad
My dad has had many many health scares throughout my life so having him here to walk me down the aisle was a very big deal to me. Our first look was so much more memorable then I even imagined. I feel all the same feelings flooding back every time I see the photos.
Bridal Look
My dress was another very very very hard decision. That’s probably the one thing girls dream of the most growing up and I knew exactly what I wanted. I had been to many different shops but wasn’t getting that “this is the one” feeling. This is until I walked into The Blushing Bride. My problem went from not loving anything to loving too many!
I ultimately went with a plunging neckline, full pearl beading embroidery, and a custom two piece cape. I felt like it was the perfect blend of modern and classic. Anyone who knows me knows I rock bold red lipstick everywhere I go. My wedding day would be no different! Red nails, deep plum lips, and red velvet Jimmy Choos to top of the full look!
Floral Design
I let my florist run wild with a few pictures and color suggestions. I trust her vision and creativity so much I thought it was best to let her work her magic!
Emerson Venue Wedding Ceremony
I was so unbelievably nervous but it was exactly what I always imagined it being. Lots of laughs and inside jokes between Eric and I. I’m blown away by the pictures, the pops of color, and all the happiness that comes pouring through.
Wedding Photography
The photographer was no doubt my number one most important vendor. There are so many incredible ones out there these days it definitely was not an easy decision. I found Jeff on Instagram and feel in love with his deep vibrant colors and classic feel. Almost as though someone colored in the great black and white movies of the 50’s. Many wedding photographers go for the trendy, Instagram worthy filters, which is great. But I knew I wanted a timeless and once in a lifetime quality set of pictures. Jeff exceeded my expectations and I am forever grateful for him! He captured all the love, fun, and intimacy so beautifully. I will treasure them forever!
Dessert
We wanted Emporium Pies at our wedding after the first time we stumbled into their Deep Ellum store 3 years ago. Plus, everyone loves pie!!
Reception
Our wedding reception was the most fun I’ve ever been to! It was filled with great music, and even better drinks.

I am absolutely swooning over these colors. The deep green of Adolphus Hotel’s corridors, stark white of the quaint church, those vibrant florals! What a magical day!
wowwwwww this venue is UNREAL. Also that skyline! I love how much detail you added in with the photos to really make us feel like we were there, I feel like I was a guest at this wedding! So great!
Jeff!!!! These are insane. That floral installation matching her bouquet is EVERYTHING but even the little details in the story (like how you set the scene by showing a panorama) is fantastic!
