Not all tropical wedding destinations are created equally.  Yes, there are other islands with more pristine beaches, closer to the mainland.  But nowhere can match the unique mix of culture, beauty, and history of Hawaii.

The Hawaii Islands are home to jaw dropping natural landscapes.  They offer beaches, rainforests, lush canyons, rolling plains, and snow capped volcanos.  Each can be found on almost every one of the islands.  Oahu, Maui, Hawaii, and Kauai are all fantastic choices. Every island has a different combination of wedding venues and natural attractions.  There is surely an island for every taste.

Hawaii Wedding Venues

Any of these Hawaii wedding venues would make for a gorgeous wedding experience.  Yes, Hawaii offers plenty of traditional wedding venues for big celebrations with family and friends.  But It’s best known for smaller romantic elopements.  Either way, you can’t go wrong!

Maui

Maui has the best collection of venues among the Hawaiian Islands.  This island has big luxury beach front hotels that can host a larger number of guests.  It also has smaller venues that specialize in cozy weddings next to the water.  Maui even offers some very unique venues away from the beach with more of a lush, green, rainforest feel.

There are so many incredible spots on Maui for intimate elopements.  You can get married above the clouds on Haleakala, the volcano that makes up most of the island.  Drive on the road to Hana and say “I do” in a tropical rainforest next to a waterfall or fresh water pool. Of course there is always the plethora of gorgeous beaches that surround Maui.  It’s not too hard to find a secluded spot by the water, away from the crowds.

O’ahu

O’ahu is home to the biggest population of any Hawaiian island and many of its most iconic sites.  Pearl Harbor, Waikiki Beach, Diamondhead, and the Banzai Pipeline come to mind.  Don’t let any of that fool you though.  There is plenty of natural beauty and awesome wedding venues to go around.

Honolulu is home to several great hotels with an urban meets paradise feel.  The northern side of O’ahu has breathtaking cliffside locations and beach venues.  Put those iconic landmarks to use and make them a part of your wedding experience.

Kauai

Many regard Kauai as the most beautiful of all the Hawaii Islands.  It has a pretty limited amount of options for large wedding venues or venues in general.  What it lacks in amenities, it more than makes up for with spectacular nature.  Kauai is the top choice for adventure elopements and is great for smaller weddings too.

The island features wonderful beaches, towering waterfalls (Jurassic Park anyone?), and rugged geography.  Kauai is home to Waimea Canyon, otherwise known as “the Grand Canyon of the Pacific.”  It’s something not found on any other island and is an unforgettable elopement spot.

Hawaii (The Big Island)

The Big Island is quite a bit less traveled and therefor lacks the options of other Hawaiian Islands.  It’s still very much worth taking a look at though.  This is especially true if you are looking to elope in nature.  The Big Island of Hawaii is well known for its black sand beaches and active volcanos.  It is also home to prairie land and huge cattle ranches. Hawaii has its own unique character that sets it apart from the other islands.
